Punishment where it's due. For reckless tackling or intent to injure, charge footballers with GBH. Under FiT Roads, with its ethos of equal rights and responsibilities, aggressive conduct, middle-lane blocking included, will no longer be tolerated. With freedom to choose, the chances are that human nature will see to it that people act considerately, and sanction won't be needed. It's the very nature of sanction, with its prior assumption of guilt, that causes resentment.
